Water Mist Event in Antwerp

After having held their conference in Madrid (in 2022) and in Copenhagen (in 2023), the International Water Mist Association (IWMA) will in 2024 return to central Europe, to be more precise: to Antwerp!

In fact, the 23rd International Water Mist Conference will take place on 18^th and 19^th September at the Radisson Blu Astrid Hotel (opposite Antwerp Central).

The conference section on the association’s webpage is now active and the ticket sale has started. To buy your ticket, book your accommodation etc. go to www.iwma.net/iwmc

Expected are delegates from around the globe: manufacturers, researchers, fire consultants, insurers, etc. IWMA has 120 tickets to sell and are positive that all of them will sell. So get your ticket today to avoid disappointment. Up until 15^th August, IWMA offer tickets at a special price.

Day one of the conference will again mainly deal with systems in practice. Manufacturers will report on their projects, the challenges they had to face but also on why end customers decided to have a water mist system installed.

Day two will mainly focus on the scientific side of the technology. A highlight here will be the bestowal of the Ragnar Wighus Award which, in 2024, will go to the author of the best master thesis dealing with water mist. (In 2025, the prize will again go to the author of the best Ph.D. thesis dealing with water mist).

There are still speaker slots available. So, if you are interested in presenting your case study or scientific findings get in touch with the IWMA head office.

This conference will be the last event for Are Wendelborg Brandt as IWMA president. After two terms, he will have to step down and vacant his position for someone else. The elections will take place a day before the conference. Thus, the new president will be inaugurated in Antwerp. Are Brandt will still open the conference, but the new president will close the event and officially announce the 2025 venue and date.

For those who cannot make it to Antwerp in September for whatever reason, other opportunities to learn about water mist are listed in the IWMA calendar:

On 19^th June at 2 p.m., IWMA will hold a water mist session at the NFPA event in Orlando, USA

On 4^th and 5^th December, IWMA will have a booth at this year’s VdS fire safety event in Cologne.

And in 2025, IWMA will again be present at Fire Sprinkler International. The official date has already been announced be the European Fire Sprinkler Network: 2^nd and 3^rd April. It is expected that EFSN will once again make space for a water mist session.
