Global manufacturer of passive fire protection and acoustic solutions, Siderise Group, has published its latest sustainability report, outlining the growing company’s progress against its ambitious Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets and sharing the robust steps it is taking to ensure a safer future for both people and planet.
Covering Siderise’s global operations across its two divisions, the report looks in detail at each of the company’s four ESG strategy pillars: Planet, People, Product, and Policy. These were defined by conducting an in-depth assessment to identify the material topics that impact both the business and its stakeholders the most.
Key highlights from the 2024 report include the creation of a detailed decarbonisation plan that sets out the strategic projects and investment required to meet its goal to be net-zero for Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the end of 2030. Progress toward this goal has also been supported by numerous site upgrades across the Group, from implementing energy efficiency measures across our UK sites to fitting the company’s first solar array on the Siderise Innovation Centre in Maesteg, South Wales. Siderise also announced that it had achieved its interim target for 70% of company vehicles to be electric ahead of schedule.
Other key milestones and initiatives relating to its products include the publication of the company’s first Health Product Declaration (HPD) that covers all firestop and cavity barrier solutions, as well as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for CW-CB Cavity Barrier and CW-FS Firestop, and RV Vertical Open State Cavity Barrier, following the 2023 EPD for RH Horizontal Cavity Barrier. It also launched a digital supplier screening system, sending out 48 surveys to assess environmental and social risks across its supply chain.
The report also highlights Siderise’s ongoing efforts to establish a robust, values-led company culture, which led to it being named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024. Work here has included the attainment of ISO 45001: 2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification at SIL Maesteg, reinforcing commitment to health, safety, and well-being and the appointment of a Learning and Development Business Manager to drive company targets around training and upskilling. It has also introduced an enhanced benefits package for all full-time staff, including increased maternity pay, improved annual leave, and access to healthcare assistance.
It also details its efforts to ensure a positive social impact in its local communities under its robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. This includes hosting three community engagement days centred around its headquarters in South Wales.
