Promat puts competency first with 85% of specialist team meeting top fire safety standard

Passive fire protection system manufacturer Promat continues its drive to increase technical knowledge across the company with 85 per cent of its specialist fire protection team having achieved the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 3 qualification in passive fire protection.

In addition, other team members are currently undertaking Level 3 training in passive fire protection from the Association of Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) to support the highest level of expertise.

The highest industry-recognised qualification for passive fire specialists, the IFE Level 3 in Passive Fire Protection demonstrates a high level of understanding into how built-in fire safety products are used to protect buildings from the spread of fire.

While technical experts often hold the qualification, the drive to improve skills and understanding across the industry has seen Promat roll the training out across its specialist fire protection team to ensure an in-depth understanding across all areas of the business. All Promat employees working in the specification and technical teams are now working towards, or have achieved, the IFE qualification in passive fire protection.

The need to demonstrate competency has become a defined requirement following the introduction of the Building Safety Act and although it is designed to ensure that responsibility is taken at the top level, accountability is needed at every level, with the skills and competence in place at every stage of the project from development through to installation.

To this end passive fire protection system manufacturers, such as Promat, have taken steps to further evidence their commitment to the highest standards and ensure those involved in the specification and installation of passive fire protection can rely on the technical support and expertise they need.
