Almost one year after receiving the order, ZIEGLER Group delivered a new Z6 Aircraft Fire Fighting and Rescue to Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport in Belgium on 31 March 2022.
The Crashtender is built on a TITAN 6×6 chassis with steerable rear axle and is driven by a 770hp Scania V8 engine. The innovative and continuously variable transmission by Kessler completes the new drive concept and actually brings this high performance to the road. This translates into unrivalled acceleration and top speed in this particular application.
In addition, the new vehicle provides up to 13,000 litres of extinguishing water, 1,500 litres of foam and 250kg of extinguishing powder for concentrated extinguishing power in the airport. The FPN 10-8,000 is precisely designed to supply the turrets (the newly developed ZT-6000 as a roof mounted turret), the rapid intervention unit and the self-protection system with extinguishing power. The Z-Cab Air is certified according ECE R 29-3 and therefore guarantees highest occupant protection. The vehicle will be controlled and operated via Z-Control of the latest generation according to the whole ZIEGLER line.
Furthermore, the order includes an all-in service contract of 10 years, which will be carried out by Ziegler Brandweertechniek BV. The airport has also already made provisions for 2023: another order for a new Z6 will be placed in September of this year.
