For many years’, the only way to protect a dry riser valve against damage or vandalism was to install a cabinet or box around it. The associated costs for supply and installation, combined with space constraints meant that this was not always a viable option. Whilst the use of a leather strap has been the only cost-effective way of trying to prevent the unauthorised use of dry riser valves, it could never completely prevent interference.
iSON Moulding Limited, a company who specialise in plastic injection moulding, has developed an innovative new Dry Riser Outlet Cover to overcome all these problems. Unlike anything else on the market, this unique cover encapsulates the entire body, handwheel, valve, removable blanking cap and chain, preventing unauthorised interference and vandalism.
The iSON Dry Riser Outlet Cover is easy to install, saving time and money, as well as being smaller and more compact than standard outlet cabinets.
Manufactured in the UK from durable HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) the cover also has good chemical and corrosion resistance.
The covers unique hinged design includes a fixing point for an FB1 Fire Brigade lever padlock, making it easy to install and remove by authorised personnel, either for maintenance or annual inspection purposes or in an emergency when lives could depend on it.
Carl Anderson, Managing Director at iSON Moulding Limited explains, “If a faulty valve should start to leak water, the dry riser outlet cover design allows for water to escape via the hinge mechanism. Therefore, visible leak detection will still be possible for dry riser system maintenance personnel.”
