The UKs leading independent fire engineering consultancy, OFR Consultants has expanded capacity in London with the appointment of experienced team members, Gary Marlow and Jack Wilshaw.
With 70 people now based across its seven UK offices in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bath, Oxford and Leeds and with a turnover of over exceeding £6M, the business has grown in a rapid, but considered manner a rebrand from Olsson to OFR in 2017.
Gary and Jack have brought extensive fire engineering expertise to their roles, and are working with colleagues to deliver high quality support to projects across the UK and around the world, including the Museum of London, Canada Water and Kensington Olympia.
Associate director, Gary has joined the London Office bringing nearly 40 years’ experience, having started his career as a trainee building control surveyor at Reading Borough Council in 1982, moving on through various authorities to be principal building control surveyor for Wokingham Borough Council in 2004. Following this he worked as technical project manager with a number of developers before moving into fire engineering consultancy practices. His portfolio includes a number of notable projects such as historic buildings, mixed use developments for a number of major house builders and as an expert witness.
OFR has also welcomed design director, Jack Wilshaw into the London. As a
Chartered Engineer with 18 years of experience on projects such as sports stadia, performance venues, public assembly and arts and culture buildings, he has lead fire strategy development through design, approvals negotiations and operations. He has brought valuable international experience having lived and worked in Australia and having worked in Europe, the Middle East and South Korea.
With extensive experience of interdisciplinary working to deliver complex design strategies, Jack places great importance on collaboration in a team environment. Speaking about his new appointment, he said: “In joining OFR I am looking forward to working within a business that practices what it preaches – I also truly believe that by adopting an open, knowledge sharing approach to engineering design, the conversations around difficult fire safety challenges are communicated effectively with clients and the approval authorities, ensuring a higher level of safety for all.”
