Hayley Burgess, the newly appointed International President of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), has been appointed to the Editorial Advisory Board of MDM Publishing Ltd where she will assist us in attaining the very best editorial content across its stable of leading fire industry journals.
Hayley is the Managing Director of HBSC Ltd and has been a practising consultant within the sector for over a decade, with a broad history as a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner and Chartered Building Engineer. Having worked in both the private consultant industry and serving local government, her 12-year career as a Principal Fire Safety and Health & Safety Consultant has honed her expertise. Her early employment included completing Fire Risk Assessments for numerous government-occupied buildings, which laid the groundwork for her subsequent pursuits.
Hayley’s speciality is in the Social Care Sector, where she assists customers in satisfying strict Fire Safety Standards, such as the NIHTM 84 framework. Her in-depth awareness of the industry's particular issues has established her as a trusted counsel in the enhancement of fire safety standards.
Making history
At the end of 2023, Hayley was elected as the first female president of the IFE in its 105-year history, signifying the organisation’s dedication to equality and diversity. Bringing a wealth of expertise to her new role, Hayley will continue to navigate IFE members through rigorous fire safety standards and contributes to fire strategy designs across the built environment.
