British manufacturer Haztec International returns to this year’s ESS with many innovative additions to its range of emergency vehicle warning equipment.
For over 20 years, Haztec has been a major supplier to the emergency services, with customers worldwide. This broad customer base reflects Haztec’s ability to meet many different applications, with products designed, built and tested to withstand the rigours of use in divergent climatic conditions.
The manufacturer’s lightbar range offers a choice of profiles and lengths up to 2.4 metres – from the Xpert DX, which is ideally suited to the largest of fire appliances, to the low-profile Xpert SLE minibar, which can be quickly magnetically mounted onto an officer’s car but stowed in the vehicle when not in use. On display will be a number of lightbar demonstration models to illustrate the many different configuration possibilities, including the manufacturer’s latest ultra-bright XT LED modules, which are available in single, dual and tri colour combinations.
As with its lightbars, Haztec’s beacon range is very broad, with single and dual-colour models in various profiles. Its popular magnetic mount beacons are wind-speed tested to up to 250km/h (155mph).
Haztec’s EuroSmart range of controllers, switches, sirens and speakers is designed to simplify programming and operation of even the most advanced switching requirements. The range includes the 8-82613 Class D siren/PA and 8-7050 speakers, which are just about the smallest but most powerful speakers on the market, delivering a typical output of >120dBA. The latest 8-9152 lightbar speaker was designed to fit within the 57mm high Xpert SL lightbar without requiring a raised section, which might compromise the lightbar’s low profile, and yet still deliver high-power sound output.
ModuLux is a modular dash or DIN mounted switching system offering up to 24 multi-function buttons. Users can choose to combine up to four switch modules to form a single unit. Individual modules can be either four large button modules, six button modules, or a TFT LCD screen module, which can be assembled in any combination up to a total of four modules. This latest addition to the range followed quickly on the back of the innovative 8-82316 handheld controller which, with up to 27 advanced functions with multiple LCD screen menus, has been designed to simplify control of all vehicle warning equipment and even external equipment such as motorised searchlights, reducing dashboard clutter.
Another new product being demonstrated will be the backlit QuadTouch switch. With each button press, this discreet switch steps sequentially through various programmable vehicle lighting modes such as lights/siren response and at scene modes, and then back to standby, with the backlighting colour changing to indicate the selected mode. A long button press restores standby at any time without having to go through a full sequence. The switch has a discreet design making it suitable for fitting in a fire officer’s car or undercover police vehicle.

Alongside many other work and scene lights on Haztec’s stand will be the 7-7250 self-parking searchlight which combines 3045 lumen output with a high degree of precision when positioning the beam. Also on display will be the 4-1815 45-Watt 2025 lumen scene light with its wide 70-degree asymmetric beam which can be directed outward by a further 7 degrees where required. It comes with a choice of colour-matched RAL housings in black, red, white, yellow and also chrome.
Haztec will also be showing a comprehensive range of directional warning lights, including many new products, ranging from the ultra-compact to large format, which are available in single or dual colours.
Most of the manufacturer’s lightbars, beacons and directional warning lights are certified to UN ECE R65 for light intensity or brightness at all necessary angles. The approval process also verifies flash frequency and light colour under Class 1 and/or the more stringent Class 2 conditions, in addition to water-ingress protection, providing users with the confidence of knowing their vehicle warning systems meet the necessary standards.
