Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service firefighters will visit homes in south Worksop next week to offer fire safety advice, arrange free Safe and Well visits and fit smoke alarms if necessary.
Firefighters from Worksop, Edwinstowe and Carlton Fire Stations, plus one of the Service’s District Prevention Officers, will be knocking on doors on Monday, 15 and Wednesday, 17 November between 9am and 4pm on the following streets:
- Abbey Street
- Bracebridge Court
- Cemetery Road
- Cheapside
- Clinton Street
- Ely Close
- Langley Street
- Lincoln Street
- Lincoln View
- Lowtown View
- Maple Leaf Gardens
- Netherton Road
- Saint Cuthbert Street
- Southwell Close
- Thurstan Way
- Victoria Road
NFRS carries out these activities across the county as part of its work to help create safer communities and increase smoke alarm ownership. Residents can also visit www.notts-fire.gov.uk to learn about fire safety or enquire about a Safe and Well visit.
District Prevention Officer Simon Cookson said: ‘We will be visiting homes to offer free Safe and Well visits, increase smoke alarm ownership and advise residents about fire safety, including night-time routines, escape plans and what to do in the event of a fire.
‘At Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, we are committed to making the communities we serve safer, and the best way to do this is preventing incidents from happening in the first place. A free Safe and Well visit is a great way to do this as they are a proven way of reducing fires, fire-related deaths and fire-related injuries. And we cannot impress upon people enough the need for a correctly positioned, working smoke alarm on every level of the home.’
