FFE has announced the launch of Sensis®, new aspirating smoke detection (ASD) designed for applications where very early warning and system stability are critical.
Sensis is aimed at environments such as data centres, high-security facilities, warehousing and logistics, libraries and archives, where traditional point detection can be difficult to apply or may not deliver sufficiently early warning.
At the core of the range is FFE’s “one chamber” philosophy. Each Sensis detector can cover all EN54-20 Classes A, B and C using a single chamber. In contrast, some ASD systems require different chambers for each sensitivity class, increasing the risk of incorrect product selection and complicating stockholding and specification.
Sensis also incorporates blue-light technology to improve sensitivity to the very small smoke particles typically associated with incipient fires. By using blue light rather than traditional red laser or LED technology, the system is designed to provide a faster response to early-stage smoke while maintaining stability in normal operating conditions.

For installers and commissioning engineers, the Sensis 500 and 2000 offer on-board programming, allowing configuration to be carried out directly on the unit. This is particularly useful in data centres and high-security sites where laptops may be restricted or not allowed on site. Once engineers are familiar with Sensis Flow and SensisTool software, they can use the same tools across the entire Sensis ASD range, helping to simplify training and commissioning.
To support fault-finding and post-event analysis, Sensis provides extensive event logging, storing up to 180,000 events for later interrogation. This depth of history can help maintenance teams understand site behaviour over time, identify trends and investigate incidents more effectively.
Another key element of the platform is SSL – Smart Smoke Level. This algorithm continuously collects data on background contamination, calculates an average particulate level and uses this as a dynamic baseline for detection. Alarm thresholds are then managed to remain above naturally occurring contamination levels, supporting stable operation and helping to reduce unwanted alarms in challenging environments.
With Sensis, FFE aims to combine very early warning detection, robust algorithms and practical installer-friendly features in a single ASD platform that can be applied across a wide range of sectors and building types.
