After almost 52 years of service with Angus Fire, Dave Russell has decided the time has arrived to enter the world of retirement.
After graduating from Queen’s University Belfast, with a B.A. in Geography, Dave began his working life with Angus Fire in February 1972, at the tender age of 22. He quickly moved up the corporate ladder occupying various positions including UK Sales Manager, Commercial Manager and Customer Services Manager to name but a few and latterly the Global Hose Business Manager.
Apart from being a very likeable and approachable character, he possesses a vast amount of experience, expertise and knowledge about the company and the industry.
On a more personal level, Dave is a well-respected member of the firefighting community, having been involved with FIRESA, holding the office of Chairman (2005-2010) and was the Vice Chair of FOBO until 2011, and more recently Executive Board, Networking for the Fire Sector Federation.
Living near Morecambe, Dave, enjoys visiting the theatre, particularly Shakespeare. His other passion, along with his sons, is football and is an ardent Manchester United fan, being a season ticket holder since the mid-1980s. This has brought him a great deal of pleasure and entertainment over the years.
Upon retiring from Angus, Dave is to be found providing his wealth of historical knowledge around The Priory Church, Lancaster, where, as Church Warden, his charm in ‘telling a story’ will entertain its visitors for many years to come.
