Swift Fire Compliance, the fire safety subsidiary of Swiftclean, is celebrating 12 months in operation. Leaders in industry best-practice when it comes to fire dampers and kitchen extract cleaning, the company’s services help businesses comply with the Building Safety Act 2022, brought in following the Grenfell tragedy.
While Swift Fire Compliance is a new entity, it comes from Swiftclean’s many years of experience and key role working alongside BESA to develop standards such as TR19 Grease. With the advent of the Building Safety Act, robust record keeping, including pictorial evidence of fire safety measures such as dampers, is now a legal requirement. Prior to Grenfell, however, ‘record keeping’ was commonly just a box ticking exercise with little proof of efficacy.
“Grenfell was a horrific wake-up call for the whole of the building safety and compliance sector,” said Gary. “What we were doing was correct, however. Our approach to documenting work, which was above and beyond at the time, is now the benchmark of the Building Safety Act’s ‘golden thread’.”
The launch of Swift Fire Compliance’s coincides with updated BESA standard, DW145, which focuses on fire damper installation and testing, and the evidence-based, digital records that Swiftclean has long been advocates of.

To further support those responsible for DW145 compliance, Swift Fire Compliance has launched BESA approved fire damper installation and maintenance course this year delivered through it dedicated Training Academy, as well as free to download ‘Ultimate Guide’ to fire dampers.
Gary concluded: “Our business is about helping customers meet their fire safety obligations – the legal requirements they must comply with in terms of reducing fire risk and ensuring compliance, crucial for safety and compliance with the requirements of insurance policies.
“Ultimately, compliance is everything – it prevents incident and if, sadly, the unavoidable happens, it safeguards individual businesses against insurance claims. We want to help other businesses meet the standards set in the Building Safety Act. A tragedy such as Grenfell must never happen again and we hope that we can be part of the solution.”
