Speakers and session themes have been announced for this year’s Fire Station Design and Construction Workshop, which returns on 12-13 October 2026 at the Crowne Plaza, Stratford-upon-Avon.
The two-day conference brings together fire estates managers, facilities teams, architects, consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers to discuss the latest trends in fire station design, construction, and maintenance.
This year’s programme will explore some of the key issues currently shaping fire service estates, from training facility delivery and estate rationalisation to procurement, decontamination, surplus assets, flooring, and lessons learned from recent station projects.
Confirmed sessions include a presentation from Maurice Moore, Property Manager at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, who will discuss the planning process involved in delivering new training facilities and buildings on fire estates.
HLM Architects’ Karl Brown and Steven Lennon will present on data-based estate rationalising strategies, looking at how fire and rescue services can use estate data to support better long-term planning and decision-making.
BlueLight Commercial will also join the programme, with Claire Wrightson (Head of Category – Estates, Energy and Fire) and Andy Balmond (Commercial Lead) covering the commercial strategy behind EV charging infrastructure for blue light services. Established by the Home Office in 2020, BlueLight Commercial works collaboratively with blue light organisations to strengthen commercial practice and support savings that can be reinvested into front-line resources.
Decontamination will be another important theme, with Ingemar Lejon, founder of Swedish specialist chemist Lejon Kemi, presenting a session on the effective cleaning and decontamination of SCBA and firefighting hardware. Drawing on more than 15 years of work with fire and rescue services across Scandinavia, Ingemar will make the case for structured, station-based SCBA decontamination using validated chemical processes, and what an effective programme looks like in practice.
Tony Parker, Senior Construction Project Manager at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, will draw on more than 20 years’ experience across consultant and client-side roles in the blue light, defence, and public sectors, including recent work on new fire stations, a live fire facility, headquarters improvements, and remodelling schemes. In particular, his session will look at how HIWFRS develop estates standards while continuing to support innovation.
Further contributors include FeRFA Flooring Association and Simon Miles of Manchester Airport Fire and Rescue Service, with additional session details to be announced.
The event will also feature Q&A sessions with each of the speakers, an exhibition of specialist manufacturers and suppliers, and plenty of networking opportunities throughout.
