With the profound impact of environmental factors, electrical anomalies, human oversight, and anthropogenic climate change, fires have emerged as an enduring challenge necessitating our adaptation. While the complete eradication of this threat might seem daunting, it is imperative that we innovate and enhance our existing fire protection strategies to effectively mitigate the escalating risks.
The catastrophic Australian Black Summer spanning from June 2019 to May 2020 stands as a heartbreaking testament to the devastation caused. Encompassing an expanse of approximately 24.3 million hectares, this calamity destroyed over 3,000 structures and tragically claimed the lives of at least 33 individuals directly, with over 400 succumbing to complications via smoke inhalation. The profound impact on Australia’s diverse wildlife and vegetation continues to resonate vividly in our memories.
Simultaneously, California faced its most severe wildfire in history in February 2020, ravaging parts of California, Washington State, and Oregon across 4.1 million acres. The devastation included the loss of dozens of lives, destruction or damage of over 10,000 buildings, and the resultant poor air quality, once again, leading to hundreds of premature deaths and multibillion-dollar financial implications. This underscores the global nature of the wildfire crisis, extending far beyond regions such as Australia and California.
In light of a recent UN report projecting a 50% increase in global wildfires by the century’s end, a paradigm shift towards detailed prevention and prompt intervention strategies is imperative to safeguard lives, property, and critical infrastructure. The pressing need for innovative solutions to combat this escalating threat spurred the inception of The Fire Knight, a beacon of hope amidst a fiery landscape.
Our steadfast commitment over the last four years has culminated in the creation of cutting-edge fire suppression systems tailored for diverse environments. Our designs, operating autonomously as self-contained units without the need for plumbing or wiring, cater to various settings from residential to industrial and vehicular applications, championing safety and protection.
The Guardian Series epitomises our dedication to fire safety, offering an industrial-grade, large-capacity, self-contained system defending against outdoor fires. Equipped with cutting-edge technology including an infra-red flame sensor and American-designed agricultural spray heads, The Guardian ensures early detection and efficient suppression of fires, even in remote and challenging terrains, thereby safeguarding critical infrastructures and landscapes seamlessly.
The Guardian systems are customisable to order, with standard sizes featuring 1000, 2000, or 3000 litres of pre-mixed fire encapsulation and suppression fluid, offering an insight into their physical scale. The 1,000 litre Guardian system is equipped with two spray heads covering 180 degrees each, whereas the 2,000 and 3,000 litre systems boast four spray heads, each responsible for a 90-degree segment, leading to expedited application of suppressant and wider coverage. Ensuring efficiency, each nozzle is optimized to achieve a flow rate of 190 litres per minute at a pressure of 4 bar (52 gallons per minute at 58 pounds per square inch).
For enhanced functionality, these units offer optional advanced satellite communications for manual intervention, mesh radio communication for inter-device connectivity, and a GSM/GPS module for precise fire position reporting. Featuring robust components like deep-cycle batteries, photovoltaic collectors for continuous charging, and inverters supporting the 2.2 kW (3 hp) water pumps, coupled with sophisticated protection logic to prevent faults or damage, these systems are designed for reliability in challenging environments. Strategically placed in circular or linear formations at 60-meter intervals, they create a protective barrier against fire spread. While primarily for outdoor use, indoor customisation is possible through tailored adjustments to components like spray heads, communications, and power supply upon request.
The Fire Knight Protector, known as The Protector, is an advanced indoor system designed to swiftly identify and address fire threats. Equipped with an integrated camera, it captures and transmits images of the fire’s origin to the command centre, enabling prompt authorities’ alert. Simultaneously, The Protector triggers the release of an eco-friendly suppressant to quell the fire, preventing it from escalating. This proactive approach not only safeguards community resources but also reduces false alarms, enhancing overall efficacy.
In the case of gas or VOC sensor activation, the system immediately notifies residents, ensuring swift response and intervention. Additionally, specialised flame sensors accurately detect flames between heights of 200mm to 500mm, effectively avoiding erroneous readings from smaller sources like candles. Residents are further empowered through a dedicated app, providing real-time alerts, maintenance reminders, and system updates for added peace of mind.
Beyond its functionality, The Protector boasts a sleek design, perfect for seamless integration into any indoor space, be it residential or commercial. Whether in kitchens, offices, or reception areas, The Protector offers reliable fire protection without compromising aesthetics
Last but not least, is The Comodo. It may be small but once again is cleverly designed with its advanced fire detection system to be strategically placed in high-risk areas within a vehicle, ensuring prompt and efficient detection and response to potential fires. The environmentally friendly encapsulation fluid is designed specifically for lithium battery fires, however, can be used to suppress and extinguish any type of fire threat.
As we chart our course forward, our vision entails partnership with local governments and councils globally to integrate our innovative systems as standard practice, akin to smoke detectors and alarms. This not only engenders peace of mind through immediate fire notifications and suppression but also curtails fire damage, toxic emissions, and the spread of fire to neighbouring areas, heralding a paradigm shift in global fire safety practices.
