UK Fire and International Fire Fighter magazines recently teamed up with Energizer to put a range of torches on trial within UK fire and rescue services.
Energizer 2AA PivotPlus Light

The main feature of this torch is the pivoting head which can be rotated within a 175° angle so that you can aim the light just where you need it the most. A magnetic base allows it to be attached to a metal surface for hands-free lighting and more versatility when working on a task.
A maximum output of 300 lumens is possible and the light can also be dimmed right down to 30 lumens by holding down the button with the light already on so you can get the optimum output for the job. The lens is textured to provide a smooth wide beam, enabling you to easily see larger areas.

Pete is a Specialist Mechanic working in the fire and rescue service workshops and has 18 years’ experience. He works as part of the team responsible for ensuring all operational fire and rescue service vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.
Pete said: ‘Working in a fire and rescue service covering urban and rural areas, the need for a reliable torch is vitally important. As part of the ‘on call’ team I get called out to deal with breakdowns and repairs in the middle of the night and I need a torch that I can rely on.

Energizer Intrinsically Safe ATEX 130 Lumens LED Headlamp
Approved by global safety agencies, this intrinsically safe 130 lumen ATEX headlight has been designed for use in harsh settings, aimed specifically at those who work with water, dust and gas. Alan is a Station Manager with 18 years’ experience. Specialising in fire investigation, he works as part of the fire investigation team and provides operational cover across the whole of his fire and rescue service.

He said: ‘It was great to be asked to take part in this trial, the watch regularly see International Fire magazine and I have read many torch articles before.

The torches we use now with our breathing apparatus are big and bulky and often get in the way.
