The month of September marks the annual National Fire Chiefs Council’s Home Fire Safety campaign.
The month is split into four weeks, with each week focussing on a different fire safety theme, within the home or business:
- Week one focusses on Chimney Safety – 2 to 8 September
- Week two focusses on Business Safety – 9 to 15 September
- Week three focusses on Gas Safety – 16 to 22 September
- Week four focusses on Fire Door Safety – 23 to 29 September
Throughout these weeks, RBFRS will be sharing top tips to ensure fire safety stays a top priority.
Paul Jones, Group Manager responsible for Collaboration, Change and Finance said: “This month we want to make sure that everyone is aware of how to stay safe from fire and other risks in their home.
“We strongly advise people to fit working smoke alarms to each level of their homes and test the batteries every week, this can give an early warning and save lives.
“Along with having working smoke alarms, make sure that you take time to read through the advice on our website if you are a business owner. Throughout the month we will be sharing key tips and advice on how to stay compliant with fire safety regulations.”
