Ark Fire Protection has once again set the bar high for industry innovation—this time with a powerful, playful campaign that puts safety first and leaves a lasting impression.
On 17th April, Ark launched its latest initiative, “Full PPE, Get It for Free,” using an unexpected but unforgettable tool to drive home a critical message: PPE compliance saves lives.
At the centre of the campaign was The Chippie—a mock food trailer with one simple rule: no full PPE, no free lunch. Team members needed to show up in full protective gear—helmet, gloves, hi-vis, boots, and eye protection—to claim their well-earned meal. No boots? No chip butty.
What looked like a fun incentive was underpinned by a clear purpose: shifting attitudes around PPE through culture-first engagement.
“It was never just about free chips,” said Howard Hudson, Managing Director of Ark Fire Protection. “It was about reinforcing the idea that PPE isn’t optional—it’s your first line of defence. We’re always looking for creative ways to make these messages stick, and this one did exactly that.”

Ark has built a reputation for its bold, people-first culture—leading with personality, but always with purpose. From their branded coffee shop to their headline-grabbing activation at London Build, their campaigns are designed to resonate far beyond the moment.
The “Full PPE” campaign also sparked important conversations about leadership, responsibility, and Ark’s evolving culture of care. As the business continues to grow at pace, with new talent joining monthly and national projects scaling up, initiatives like this showcase Ark’s values in real time.
“We don’t want safety to feel like a lecture,” added Peter Hings, Ark’s Health and Safety Manager. “We want it to feel like second nature. If we can create a moment that brings the team together, gets them smiling, and also gets them thinking—then we’ve done our job.”
Though The Chippie was a one-day event, its impact will be felt long after the fryer cooled. “Full PPE, Get It for Free” is a perfect example of how Ark is rewriting the safety playbook—proving that a culture-driven approach to compliance doesn’t just work. It sticks.
